World's Worst Wrestling: Max Moon

No one else in the business was like him, he was a cyborg from the future, he was Maximillian Moon! The role was originally taken on by Konnan in the WWF in 1993, but he was later be replaced by Paul Diamond who would suit up in the powder-blue bodysuit decorated with a dashboard, two firework-shooting wristbands, and a jet pack. The character was originally called the Comet Kid, but Max Moon would be born in September 1992. Of that year, Diamond, as Max Moon, would defeat Terry Taylor at several house shows then Repo Man and Rick Martel by DQ. The Moon character would gain the most attention when Max Moon lost to Shawn Michaels, Diamond's former partner, on the very first episode of Monday Night Raw on January 11, 1993. However, he would continue to lose eventually becoming a full-time jobber. He made his lone PPV appearance by participating in the Royal Rumble match in 1993, being eliminated quickly. In February, Diamond's contract would expire and, sadly, the Max Moon character would die. Diamond went on to work for WCW and ECW, but he would never don a jet pack again. Max Moon's legacy lives on as being the only wrestler to successfully break the space-time continuum (except for a few other WWF time-travelers.)

World's Worst Wrestling: Universal Wrestling Federation

In 1990, one of the worst wrestling companies to ever be televised was established. Just like Wrestling Society X, the Universal Wrestling Federation was given a shot at T.V., but neither company had entertaining shows. Unlike WSX though, Fury Hour, the UWF's show, lasted three years to the Society's one. The company's name was already in use by Bill Watts; however, he failed to trademark it. Herb Abrams was the founder of the company. He had one goal, and that goal was to bring wrestling back to its humble heritage which was strictly wrestling and no show. Fury Hour was aired on the cable network SportsChannel America weekly. The two announcers were former World Champion Bruno Sammartino and Herb Abrams, the founder who was rightfully voted Worst Announcer of 1990 by the Wrestling Observer. The company which featured Paul Orndorff, Steve Williams, Don Muraco, Bob Orton Jr, the Killer Bees, Ken Patera, Col. DeBeers, Sid Vicious, and Cactus Jack was planned to be a major success but it was turning into a failure. The announce team changed two years later when Craig DeGeorge and John Tolos took over. In 1991 the UWF received two more awards, the Worst Wrestling Promotion and the Worst Television Show. Fury Hour was a failure because of its format. The matches featured were usually squashes and rarely a quality match mainly because of lack of storylines. In 1991, UWF hosted Beach Brawl, a relatively unsuccessful pay-per-view. In 1994, Blackjack Brawl became the only live UWF event shown on SportsChannel America; it was voted Worst Major Wrestling Card by the Wrestling Observer. Zoogz Rift took over head booking in 1992, but the company would not gain fame. Abrams took over booking again briefly in 1994. After a six-year downhill run, Abrams committed suicide in 1996 ultimately ending the company. Soon after merchandise was liquidated and all traces of the company were wiped from history. Briefly before the company ended, ESPN 2 repackaged episodes and aired them in 1995. This month, ESPN Classic began airing those repackaged episodes at 1:00 a.m. to 2:00 a.m. The UWF will always be remembered for....uh...using random free agents for squashes on their weekly show. Even though it may not be remembered, the UWF did exist.

World's Worst Wrestling: Adam Bomb

There is only one wrestler in history that can be considered a "nuclear weapon", and that wrestler is Adam Bomb, a character played by Bryan Clarke. Hailing from the infamous nuclear plant, Three Mile Island, he had survived a nuclear meltdown. In 1993, he debuted in the WWE donning giant goggles and apparently having "super strength". Johnny Polo, commonly known as Raven, was originally by his side (Harvey Whippleman would replace Polo eventually.) For an entire year, Adam would serve as an enhancement heel used to spite fans by occasionally squaring off against the fan favorites. In 1994, however, Whippleman and new client Kwang would alienate Adam Bomb, and he would turn face. While walking to the ring, he would toss rubber nuclear missiles into the crowd. While a face, Adam Bomb would become the first wrestler ever to be "slopped" by Henry Godwinn. Then, Kwang and Bomb would go into battle which would hardly be recognized. After participating in the King of the Ring, Adam Bomb would disappear for WWF and would finally be released thus ending the nuclear warfare.
